Using and promoting academic language in the classroom1Artifact 1 is a lesson plan of the topic of volume and surface area of prisms.  This lesson includes promoting academic language in the classroom by reviewing the vocabulary associated with 2 and 3 dimensional objects.  The lesson reinforces students knowledge of Prism, Surface Area, Volume, Vertices, Edge, Radius, Diameter, and Circumference.
Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of students in the classroom2Artifact 2 is a lesson plan on the topic of simplifying complex numbers.  Differentiated instruction was applied in this lesson in several ways.  My instructional strategies for this lesson is cues, questions, activating prior knowledge for the introduction, direct instruction for presentation of new material, and student self-assessment in the form of an exit slip and poll questions.
Incorporating technology into your instruction to enhance student learning3Artifact 3 is a lesson plan on the topic of exponential equations.  This lesson incorporates technology by allowing students to solve real world problems using the online Desmos calculator.  The use of this technology allows the students to visualize the solution and provides a deeper layer of understanding.
Applying engaging and effective instructional strategies4Artifact 4 is a lesson plan on the topic of the introduction of complex numbers.  This lesson employs an engaging and effective instructional strategy in several ways.  The lesson engages the students when the lesson begins by having students assume the role of a 2nd grader and are asked to solve problems that 2nd graders do know have the skills to solve.  The purpose of this activity was designed to show students that they too are missing the concept of "imaginary numbers."
